It’s all possible

About Me

I have over 20 years of experience in the world of accounting, finance, and management while working in the Oil and Gas industry. I am a happily married father of two wonderful boys. Since completing my coach training in 2015, I work with motivated and hardworking clients who want to grow and expand their businesses or find themselves stuck in one of life’s many ruts and want help getting out.

Professional Experience

I graduated university with a Bachelor’s of Commerce in Accounting and a Bachelor’s of Arts in Psychology. At the time I always said I did one for the education and one for the job! After graduation, I started my now 20+ year career in accounting. I completed my professional certification, (then CGA, now CPA) in 2003 and soon after made the leap into the oil and gas industry. Through this rewarding career, I continued to attain more senior roles and was soon leading teams. I was fortunate to work in some great companies that grew rapidly and allowed me the opportunity to grow with them.

Along the way, I fueled my passion for processes and systems by learning and working on ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) implementations. I was always interested in the most efficient and effective ways to collect financial information to ensure the success my accounting teams. My real passion was using that data to produce financial information for the other leaders in the organization to use in their decision making, leading to greater success for the company.

In 2016, I returned to school to complete the Business Intelligence Certificate. These skills deepened my understanding of data and how to continue to use it to enable decision making. I learned how to use multiple platforms to extract, transform and load data into data sources and datasets that could be used by different reporting and dashboarding solutions to present the data in visually rich ways making it easy to obtain business insights.

Personal Coaching

In 2015, I found myself in the most challenging work environment I had ever experienced. While I was used to dealing with tight deadlines, long and stressful days, I found myself, for the first time in my career, not happy with the results I was getting. I was still being successful but I found myself to be more frustrated, angry and demanding of myself and the teams I was leading. I was still passionate about helping my team members succeed but the way I was showing up to lead was not getting the job done. I was pushing people away and was generally a pretty miserable coworker to be around!

Thankfully, I was given the opportunity to work with Barb Pierce, a gifted coach, who was working with our organization at the time. I saw immediate benefits in my leadership approach and I started to see my team members step up and flourish! More surprisingly, I started to see changes in my personal life and my way of thinking and approaching different situations as she helped my identify blind spots and gaps between the things I said I valued and believed and the things I did.

Shortly after starting to work with Barb , I signed up for and completed the ICF accredited, Become a Coach Leader Course through her organization, Coaching Horizons. As I went through the course I began to see my professional goals and educational goals realign! Coaching allows me to feed my curiosity about human behavior and use my skills to help others. Now I am passionate about helping others take back their careers, their bodies, and their relationships!
